We are looking to get out of Atlanta over Labor Day weekend and were wanting to know who crowded it is in Key Largo on the holiday weekend. We went to Panama City over the 4th of July and the drive down and back was way too crazy, so we will not be doing that trip again over a holiday weekend. I really wish they would get an Interstate route down that way.

Anyway, any help on figuring out the Key Largo situation would be greatly appreciated. Also, any suggestions on "pet friendly" hotels in that are would also be helpful for us, we cannot stand to no take our 4 legged furry child with us.

Hmm, Labor Day in Key Largo, that can be a tough one.
I would'nt try this trip without advance reservations, lodging and charters, especially if the weather's decent. Most hotels require a 3 nt. min. on holiday wk'nds. Perhaps the Key Largo chamber of commerce could help with the pet friendly lodging. Traffic heading to the Keys on a holiday wk'nd can be a ZOO!! Hard to predict so allow plenty of time.
Also consider trying Ft.Lauderedale, Miami, or anywhere along the Fl. east coast from West Palm bch. down. This board is a wealth of info.,so if you decide on a area, run a search and I'm sure you'll be swamped with useful suggestions.
Whatever ya'll decide enjoy the wk'nd and be safe.

Driving ANYWHERE over Labor Day Weekend will be stressful. Why not hop a plane to Miami and rent a car for the drive to Key Largo? Gilbert's (at the drawbridge) accepted pets the last time I checked. We still have space on our boat. Check out BlueWater Divers of Key Largo at www.bluewaterdiver.net or call us at 888-953-9600 for reservations. Have a great holiday weekend!
