Just remember that the OP is a new diver AND probably not a cold water diver. Veterans Park can be treacherous at times and Palos Verdes ain't no chump change either.

Thanks for that. I am getting excited about going. I found the Scuba Chalet website. I am looking for some easy stuff to do and see. I am going to shoot for coming in by noon on the Sunday I go so I can go diving Sunday afternoon. I would LOVE to have some of you fine folks join me and show me around. I am also thinking about taking the night diving specialty course while I am there from the local SSI or PADI shop. Thanks for all the info guys!!!!!

+1 on Sea D Sea...tell Barry I said hello. You can rent anything you need there.

You will be near Veterans Park at Redondo Beach, one of the many local shore dive sites. They have a dive club and always dive Wed. nites as well as other times and newbies are welcome. Check them out at DiveVets : Friends Getting Wet! | Join our active and fun group of SoCal divers.

Dive n Surf is also near by and they dive Redondo Beach frequently.
You will be close to great shore diving and boat diving. The Palos Verde area has many great shore dives, so does Laguna Beach (one county south). And of course there is the ferry to Catalina to dive the Casino Point Dive Park or so many dive boats that dive Catalina and the Channel Islands, too.

Lots of Scubaboarders to meet in SoCal. You'll love SoCal diving.

I just registered for the seminar, so i am definitely going to be in town Nov. 6th and 11am and leaving on the 12th. I just emailed Sea D Sea to ask about equipment rentals and maybe the Night Diving course. I looked at the Dive Vets website too and that is a strong possibility for me also. Looks to be fun if they are going to be doing their Wed. night dive.
