I need some local information.I will be going to Kona in september can anyone recomend some dive ops there and "must do" dives, also what about shore diving ?

Thanks

John

I echo the sentiment on the must do's.

Dive ops. I like Bottom Time Hawaii and Big Island Divers. Both great ops.

Do a search and you will find this covered very well many times.
DO NOT miss the manta dive followed by the black water dive. Book early in your trip incase of weather.

Kona's got a lot of good shore diving, here's a shallow spot at the Place of Refuge, Puako will be much the same in the shallows with lots of nice swimthroughs.

The manta dive is a must if they are in at the time, most of the dive operators that do the dive keep track of whether they are coming in or not. There's lots of good boat diving to be had also, but I wouldn't say there are any specific dive sites that are must-do's verses others.

September is awesome diving in general.

The wife and I went out a few times with Dive Makai and had great fun. The old gals that ran the place have sold and moved on, so I can't answer to the new operation.

And we did the manta dive with Jack's. Probably one of the most memorable trips ever!!!

Pacific Rim Divers is always my first pick. 6 pack boat, great staff, and even better brownies! Big Island Divers would be a good pick for the Manta Dive, and Dive Tek will also treat you well.
