A bit late to the party, but I'll throw some info in. I did the Mermaid II from Bali to Komodo (September) approaching 2 years ago, and I thought it was an excellent trip. The food was outstanding (great little Thai cook on board) Dive masters were cool (let by Jerry, not sure if he's still the lead DM) and the boat was very comfortable.
By contrast, I did the high-end Monsoon Maldives Liveaboard in October of last year and, all things considered, enjoyed the Mermaid a bit more i think.
