Hemingway himself however frequented the "old" Sloppy Joe's bar, which is not called Sloppy Joe's anymore. It is a dingy, dark, musky cave-like dive that only serves beer and liquor. Not a bad place to have a drink, especially if you are a historian. It is called Captain Tony's now, I think. Don't remember exactly.
The "new" Sloppy Joe's is a huge bar and grill several blocks away from the other. Food is good. Atmosphere is great. Lots of Hemingway memorabilia on the walls.
Hemingway frequented both places (you are correct, the old place is named Capt. Tony's and by calling it a "dingy, dark, musky cave-like dive" you are being kind
