I am thinking about flying down for a few days about mid-March. Any temperature sites you know of or past experiences would be great.

What is the water like at that time? Is it too cold in the Upper Keys? Do I need to go down to Key West for warmer temps?
Are most shops open at that time of year?

Thanks,

James

Hey James,

The average water temp for the Keys in March will be between 70 and 80, so you'll be fine there. As for going further down for warmer temps, as the crow flys we're only about 60 miles from the Upper Keys to Key West, so there's really no difference. Here's a website you might refer to for more info http://www.divecapital.org.

Shops down here are open year round, so you won't have a problem finding a dive shop. Just make sure you ask questions about the dive sites, size of boats, and what their cancellation policies are. Most shops can even get you a better than advertised price on lodging if you ask.

Have fun whoever you dive with and if you have anymore questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Good Diving,
