Well I did two different dives while there. I dove Sout Point in Key West on Monday, some shallow reef dives to get my feet wet again ( been 9 months). Had a lot of fun. They are a good group. The only thing is I dove the exact same 2 locations I dove last year with them. No biggie however, saw it from a different angle (we swam in the opposite direction this time :D ).

Weds. I went up to Looe Key and dove up there on there. It was a 3 tank trip. They were expensive!!! My dive and 3 tanks were $65, not bad. But for my g/f to snorkle and rent gear was $55. They tried saying it was taxes!!!! But once on the water it was good to go. There was a strong surface current on the Busch, burnt up a good little chunk of air just trying to get to the mooring line to head down. We did some reef dives after that. All in all not a bad dive, just make sure you get a good break down on the prices in advance.

Anywhoooo....thanks to you all for the advice.

Wstein;

I have a question that you may be able to answer for me.

I hear many people say we went to the same locations, all the time,
I do not understand what differents that makes. I can go to the same site everyday and the animals are different all the time. One time I might run into a turtle, the next time a shark, the next a school of tarpon and so on. The reef is the same all the way up & down the keys. The reef is the same in KW as it is in Key Largo. If there was not a object that you could see like Sand Key lighthouse or the big wheel you would not know where you were at. Many times I take my customers back to the same sites that they were diving on in the day time on the night dives, I do not tell them of this and I ask them after the dives, what they think of this site, Almost all the time I get answers of; this place was GREAT! Then I tell them that they were diving at this site during the day. Many don’t believe me.

Why is diving at the same site on different days a bad thing?

I do not understand this!!!!

RMC,

You are correct, I could probably dive the same reef several times and always see some thing different. BUT!! I dive down in the Keys so infrequently that I would love to see various parts of the reef and different wrecks when I go down there. You are very lucky to live there, so you have a daily option to dive or not to dive (depending on your work schedule). And you can pick and choose to dive the same reef over and over or move on to some place new. Here in the Tampa Bay area, we have piles of concret drain pipes and some old barges to dive on. You can only look at the same pile of rocks so many times before you get bored with it.

Anywho, I loved my time down there and can't wait to go back and do some more diving.

Laters and safe diving

I'll echo reef-divers.com. Jim Wyatt is a nice guy and an incredibly experienced (ex-navy) diver.
