Key Largo Diving/Hotels

Hi all,

My wife and I are heading down to Key Largo the weekend of Feb 4,5,6. We are bringing the twins and the parents to babysit as we dive. We've dived in Key Largo before but it was always a day trip from Miami or somewhere nearby. We are wondering if anybody can tell us a place where we can check in and dive from the hotel and stay the night or two. Hopefully this is the right place to post this, sorry if its not.

marriott key largo. pirate island divers is on the same property as hotel. dove with them many times. never had any issues and the hotel rooms are nice. you might want to repost in the regional section under conch divers. probably get mire responses there

We stayed at Ocean Pointe Suites and was thrilled with the accommodations. They really are condos with 2-3 bedrooms, kitchen, living area and private balcony. Washer-dryer, range, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker & bedroom closets.

We paid about $110 per night. Can't beat it. It is right on the border of Key Largo & Tavernier

Holiday Inn/ SeaDwellers dive shop is the most convenient for me. Ask for a Marina view room. Out the back door of the motel, down some steps and onto the boat, maybe a hundred feet. Next would be the Ramada/Horizon dive shop. You'll have to walk maybe a one minute walk from the motel to the boat. Both dive shops have packages with these motels. If I remember correctly I paid $88 to stay at the Ramada and $114 at the Holiday Inn. Both dive shops are at the 100 mile mark on Rt. 1 and both are on the Internet.

Key West Inn (formerly Suites of Key Largo) on Ocean Drive, 2 story condos with kitchen/pool/etc. right on the Marina. Next door to Horizon Divers on one side and Key Largo Harbor Marina where the Garden Cove Divers boat is at. $99/nite.

Amy Slate's Amoray Dive Resort is our favorite place, big rooms, walk to the boat, friendly and reasonable! Hope you have a great time in KL!

I stayed at the Marriott and dove with Quiescence. They are located next door and have small boats with usually 6 diver maximum per boat. I thought they were a great dive op.

So many hotels, so many operators. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn, MM 100, many times. I'm fond of the marina view rooms. I have generally dived with Ocean Divers, a short walk down the marina. HMS Minnow, a very highly rated operator, is right out the back door of the hotel.

While not exactly what you requested (hotel/Operator) I highly recommend Island Ventures as a Dive Operator! "No Stress Diving" is their motto and claim to fame! A GREAT operation. Very friendly/helpful crew. We dive with them every time we get to the Keys. We stay a little ways down the road at Hungry Pelican/Sunset Cove.

I would suggest Ocean Pointe Suites in Key Largo / Tavernier. Individual one and two bedroom condos, fully equipped, huge pool, tennis courts, neat marina and cafe, very nice grounds and very reasonable in price !

We dive with Conch Republic Divers just 5 min down the road - excellent dive operator.
