I was just going to call Brent today and see how his schedule was for the weekend.
I didn't know he sold his boat. I have dove with his charter a number of times and
always had a good time. Is the new charter still going under Blue Water Divers ?

I've never been to Key West or Key Largo and just starting some research. Can anyone recommend a top notch dive shop/operator and place to stay? Want a 5 star dive shop ie: safety conscious and personal service and decent accomodations. :-)

:)

Jeff Jarvis HMS Minnow 1 305 451 7834. Suites of Key Largo 1305 451 5081. It is across from the canal from Jeff's boat. 6 pack boat with a very safety oriented captain.

Hope this helps.

BlueWater Divers has an operating website. When I sent them an e-mail with a few questions, they responded the next day, so they seem to be operating. If anyone is going to Key Largo, a quick look and a post would be appreciated.

Nobody needs to go there, there's a webcam that has the boat in view. During the daytime, go here and then click on the Key Largo webcam (there's a choice of 34 different cams throughout the Keys to choose from).

You'll see Blue Water Diver right where she's supposed to be in the picture (unless she's out on a trip).

+1 for Rainbow Reef - dove with them on our first dives after cert a couple years ago and they were terrific. I felt the guides did a good job of watching over us more (nooooooobies) and the vets were left more independent, plus they definitely knew all the hiding holes!

As for food - The Fishhouse. AWESOME!!! Order the yellowtail, black and blue.

My wife and I dove with Rainbow Reef back in 11/08. We will be with them again in 06/09. I can't say enough great things about Jesus, the guide we had.The guide is great for those of us still focusing on our new skills.
We had stayed at the Marina Del Mar, but are trying the Ramada this time. Most of our meals were had over at the Galley over top of Sharkey's bar. Great place to hang out.

Hi Speargirl

What is Brent up to now?....I dived with him last year and he was top notch

I was wondering why Blue water Divers and Brent never got a mention anymore when people were asking for op recommendations and I guess now I know

Brent is doing well. He works for the DEP now and loves it. He still tries to get out when he can. I sure miss him on his boat he was a top notch charter here in the Keys. :depressed: But last time I talked with him was about 2 weeks ago and he is happy.:D
So if he's happy I'm happy for him.

Give him my regards when you see him again....he didn't consider going back to join Patrick Swayze at the Road House then!! :)

I would 2nd absolutely everything that Herman said. :)

And for about $100 you can also get in at the Suites at Key Largo which is described off of Silent World's website. It was a bit more modern than the Pelican but a tad noisy for my tastes.

Just stayed at the Suites @ Key Largo (also known as Key West Inn) this past Saturday, and dove with Silent World. Great experience! $112/night after tax for the hotel, and $75 for a 2tank dive on Silent World.

:hm: I dove with them Sat as well. Which one was you on the boat? I also got to see one of the rooms as I picked up a friend to dive as well.
Nice rooms for the money but they got a Military discount so I don't know what the room really costs.
