Here in NE we have scattered glacial kettle ponds. I'm not sure how far they extend over the rest of the country. They are typically very small and have bog like vegatation growing right up to the very side afterwhich they drop straight off.
I scouted one out today and the water looked clear, but, very black/dark (that may seem contradictory but that's what it was it like).
Does anyone have experience diving in these kinds of ponds? The water on the surface was pretty warm, so I expect big time thermoclines at some point (this pond is rumored to be 200' deep), do you think vis will be poor or great after the first 20' or so?
