What methods have you all found work best keeping bugs kicking until you get home? We've been using icebags or packs in small coolers, but that doesn't seem to work very well.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

we fill the bottom of the cooler with ice (bags or loose) and put a piece of cardboard over it (usually from the empty 30 pack  ). We pile the lobsters on top of that and they stay great for hours! The cardboard keeps them out of the fresh water which will kill them.

When you get home, you can put them right into the crisper drawer in your fridge and they stay that way for a few days.

As long as you keep them cold and out of the fresh water, they'll stay nice and lively!!
