Does anyone kayak over to Starnes Island for a dive? My kayak has a tank well and I started to think that it might be nice to paddle over for an occasional dive.

Does anyone do this?

I have never seen anyone do it but... Why not you could just pull your kayak up on the island and do it as a shore dive. I don't know of any rules against it. Starnes is one of my favorite sites.

I used to do this in San Diego in Mission Bay kayak and dive gear. Anchor and roll into the water.

You should go for it on Starnes Island diving.

Let us know how it goes.

I have seen kayakers hanging out on Starnes Island so there is no reason that it can't be done, other than the best way is to go with Lake Travis Scuba, of course....LOL.

Paddle over, pull the kayak on shore and go for a dive, just ascend up the slope so you exit at the shoreline of the island, reducing any risk of injury by boat traffic. Towing a dive flag would be a good idea.

There were kayakers out in the lake today towards Sometimes Island. Probably don't want to go on a windy day, but you should be able to get over there. Give it a try!

Keep us informed. We have a kayak with a sail and foot propulsion and would love to give it a try when the water gets way warmer since my fat *** cant get into it without getting wet...

Shameless plug ! ! !

there's a good sized bunch of open-ocean divers, who will tow their kayak behind them with a dive flag affixed .. just curious if anyone's tried this near windy point? apparently there are quite a few things to see just north of richard's property line, but farther than a comfortable surface swim.

I haven't kayaked that section of Travis but there are several other areas of the lake that I have paddled that look to be awesome for diving too.

I would be willing to paddle/dive off Windy Point when the weather improves. Who's in?
