H2Andy:
finally, real help for New Orleans:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050902/ap_on_re_us/hurricane_katrina

it took four days, but that is actually not too bad, considering the damage
to the roads leading into New Orleans
Not Bad??????????????????????????
My Brother drove a travel trailer to Nicholson Miss. from near Houston TX and averaged 65 mph, they dropped it off last night and drove back and are on the way back to Miss. w/ another travel trailer. They drove right past the turn off for NOLA on I-12.
Are you saying that it takes 4 days to get from Baton Rouge to NOLA? The buses were getting from NOLA to Houston in less than a day!

I not sure where you get that from. Ive read his post twice and cant find anything thats says it takes 4 days to get from Baton Rouge to NOLA.

A lot of folks are blaming the govt, but really if some of the guys on the ground would stop shooting at helicopters and shooting cops and trashing the superdome, I bet things would go alot smoother.

I dont care much for the whole "Lets act like animals and kill each other and let the govt fix it" attitude. The guys that are over there doing crap like that can burn for all I care.

All my Family made it through the Hurricane. My Grandmother's house made it threw Andrew and Camille but this time it was pick up by 34 foot storm surge and placed on someones car and flooded. My Aunt's house shingles and tar paper was torn off and then the rain poured in and the sheet rock and insulation fell all in. My Uncle's work shop fell in on his Road Runner that was in mint condition. My father's house made it through but had 20 and 25 foot pine trees that fell all over the yard and fence. Katrina also took and ripped off the chimney. I borught my sister and her son back with me but all the older and majorly stubborn ones stayed down there. My father is leaving in two more days to come up here.

If I can post i will post a try to post a few pictures. The storm surge swept all the way up to I-10 six feet up, almmost made it over the highway.

Sorry about your financial losses, but very glad to here that everyone in your family apparently is safe.

Watching everything that has happened the last few days, I feel very fortunate to have the please of living where I do. My heart goes out to all of those who have lost loved ones and their personal property. With any luck the national guard got there in time to save the souls who remain with us. Hang tough all and know you are in the thoughts and prayers of all of us.

Just got back to Arkansas where they have power. Was in Vicksburg, MS Monday when the storm came thru. We were suppose to be on the outskirts, but we had 80 to 90 mph winds. 90% of Warren county was with out power Mon. evening. All supplies, food, gas, etc. were in short supply. Only 1 known death in county known so far. Lots of trees down. Roads blocked everywhere. Got tired of no power and water so I brought my family back to Arkansas for a few days.

For the good news, to me that is, All of my kin folks in Gulf Port and Pascagoula, MS are alive and accounted for. A couple are in the hospital but that is a good thing.

I am thankful that Florida didn't get bashed by this one though. They had there fair share of hurricanes last year.

seriously? you're not kidding, i guess. ok, i'll explain it for you:

what takes time is organizing the NG forces, getting them staged,
arranging for suppplies to arrive and be escorted in, and making sure that
the logistics are in place to support the NG once it goes into New Orleans

your folks are helping one family. the NG are trying to help close to 100,000

it's just a lot more complicated when you multiply the needs that need to be
addressed

the driving is the easy part

If anyone is intrested, my landlord, Don Parker has 6 spots avaliable on a first come basis for anyone that was evacuated from Katrina. He furnishes power (30 or 50 amps), water, sewage hook ups, and garbage pickup free for as long as necessary. The location in near El Dorado, AR. Call first for avaliability. 870-748-2457 or 870-918-1569. PM me for other details.

Right, which is exactly why there should have been a huge mobilization and planning effort BEFORE the hurricane, when predictions of damage were even worse than what was initially reported immediately after the storm.

There is absolutely no excuse for this horrible situation occuring in our country. Billions of $ on homeland security, the most sophisticated and powerful military in the world, and you're presenting the argument that it was "too difficult" to save a major U.S. city from descending into chaos? Rediculous.

As far as defenders of the current administration arguing against "politicizing" this situation, I'll remind you that 9/11 has been politicized by this administration in an astonishingly cynical manner for years. The bottom line here is that our government has committed a grevious act of negligence and let a huge number of American citizens suffer needlessly.

Amen!

H2Andy- You are the one who said Quote:
"it took four days, but that is actually not too bad, considering the damage

H2Andy-Enough with the Devils Advocate man! Even the President isn't with you on this one.

"The results are not acceptable," said Bush, who rarely admits failure.
