La Place is barely dryland outcropping from swamp, I hope the best for em...

More than 80 are dead in one of MS's counties according to msnbc. They still arent able to get numbers in LA, since most areas still aren't accessible.

I heard the sound of a thunder,
it roared out a warnin',
Heard the roar of a wave
that could drown the whole world,

And it's a hard, and it's a hard,
it's a hard, it's a hard,
And it's a hard rain's gonna fall.

I know what you mean...I have to figure out how to get to Amelia, La tomorrow morning to catch a helicopter out to the platform for initial damage assesment and start-up.

It seems that getting production crews out to the fields would be a very high priority. Good luck man!!

I was just reading about all the old landmarks that are gone. Just makes you want to sit and cry.

The Comfort Inn about one-half mile from my son's house had 6 feet of water in the lobby. One of the auto dealerships nearby was wiped out so I don't have much hope for his house. Can't call because I just get a recording saying there's a hurricane.

yes, i have not been able to reach my sister since Sunday. she got through
today to me, and she's doing ok, etc. etc... just hugely bummed out

just imagine a mountain-size asteroid running into us, or a super-volcano
(such as Yosemite) deciding to go out in flames...

I haven't been able to reach the girl I'm dating over there since Sunday. She was heading to Baton Rouge, so I'm hoping she's OK. I know she's better off there than she'd be if she'd stayed. She lived off of Clearview in Metairie, which I saw had standing water atleast waist deep from the helo-coverage. I get the 'all circuits are busy' routine when I try calling. I managed to get a message in once though, hoping for the best.

oh yeah, Materie is under water... sad sad

i am sure your gf is ok... nothing much happening in Baton Rouge, but it would
be nice to talk to her, i am sure

More on the NO area.

The breech in the levy is reported to be around 3 blocks long. Supposedly, they're gonna chopper thousand pound sand bags in to block it up so they can pump it.

WWL says the first thing they're gonna do is plow the roads of debri. People will be allowed to thier houses for a set period of time to gather, pack important possessions before leaving again. They're saying it'll be atleast a month before they'll be allowed back.

If you haven't tried this yet- send a text message. They stay in the system until sent. After Ivan I wasn't able to place calls on my cell for about 2 weeks, and receiving was sketchy- but text messages worked like a charm.
