Our swiftwater team along with LA and Orange County are waiting for a plane at March AFB in Riverside. I think all of the California OES teams have been activated and are "enroute". I'll be on team 2 if activated. This looks like it is bigger than any anticipated disaster. The amount of damage looks many times worse than Loma Prieta, or Landers/Big Bear earthquakes. They only have 28 USAR teams in the counrty. 10 are already in the area. Most of the teams have developed a 2nd cache of equipment. I wouldn't be suprised if they initiated a national blitz to the area in the next 24 hours. They are going to need a lot more DMAT and DMORT teams there shortly.

Count your blessings.
It doesn't look like it's going to be boring at all come Sunday night.

Man I wish you were wrong when you said that! I wish La, MS and Ala the best - quick and speedy recovery!

Just got a message from paulwall, they headed out to Dallas on Saturday and he says he and his family are fine. Aparently his residence was in an area that faired better than most, so he's just waiting on his chance to get back into town.

I know what you mean...I have to figure out how to get to Amelia, La tomorrow morning to catch a helicopter out to the platform for initial damage assesment and start-up.

Good to know you are OK - I have been wondering.

Good to hear from everyone that you made it through! My most sincere wishes for a painless return to normal life.

So it looks like my brothers' houses will in all likelihood be total losses. Jason bought his house about 9 months ago.

Same with my dad's.... sigh. The place I grew up in is under ~ 15-20 feet of water, too, it seems.

Sorry to hear that Jon. Good luck to all.

Hey all....

I was surprised of the impact of the last hurricane and how it put the Spiegel Grove upright......the power of a hurricane even when it isnt close is mind boggling......

Has anyone heard of Katrina's impact on the Spiegel Grove this time??? Anyone dive it yet to see??? afterall..Katrina was ontop of that side of Florida this time....

Just curious...

I am headed down to Biloxi, MS tonight after work. I have a lot of family in the Harrison County area and can not reach any of them by land line or cell phone. I am taking down 4 cases of bottled water and 12 1/2 gallons of gas for their generators. Two coolers of ice also. I know this is not enough but it will due if they need to leave or just clean up. If you can think of anything else let me know. I will let you all know how bad it is when I get back. If you have anyone in the Biloxi area that you need me to contact so they contact you let me know before 11:30 PM.

Handi wipes, hand sanitizer, clean clothes, comfort food, deck of cards, sunscreen, hats, batteries, flashlights, radio, charcoal, matches, those little Dollar Store battery operated personal fans, well wishes and prayers. If kids are there, a stuffed animal and a toy. If your family doesn't need these items, somebody else will call you an angel for bringing them.
