Well, you nailed it. People were saying it was the worst viz they've seen. I paired with a newbie diver although i would have preferred a FTW veteran to guide me to the best spots. Ended up just bagging the dive as my buddy had issues with his ears, and it wasn't worth trying to hook up with someone else based on the conditions. Should have joined you in Newport.

I feel your pain! I was there today and the vis was about 3'
The water was about 70+F! Newport had the Folk Festival going on this weekend, one of the few times FTW looks goods!
What's the difference best spot worse spot? Ya can't see anything! Try Newport next time it's not always great but ya got a better shot.

Had a very nice morning with AfterDark, Dive_Turkey, and Selchie in LB. Thanks for letting me tag along. Looking for to diving with you all again. Call me any time you want to go out!
I had a good time! The water is pretty warm any way. The second dive was actually a little better, had maybe 5'-6' vis in some spots at 30FSW. Dive_turkey and I got out just as the rain started.
I like diving with good divers a lot more than I like alone, thank all of you for coming out! I'll be contacting both you and Selchie in LB whenever I good out, it may be short notice, but that's just the way my life is at times. Which is why I often dive alone! I'd like to go dig some Quahogs at Potter Cove Jamestown maybe Saturday afternoon depending on the high tide. If by some miracle I'm able to register my inflatable the trailer, buy and install a hitch on my car we can use the boat and high tide won't matter. Until then we'd be sinking in mud trying to walk out any other time other then at high tide.

Great getting out & meeting everyone. Thanks AfterDark for guiding. Now I know where I can to dial in my drysuit with steel tanks [emoji51]! Plus I don't need the thick undergarments now.
under water some where
Contact me when you want to dial in your weights. I'll help you out. We can get you all set with light garments and heavy so you'll be ready to dive any thing. It's still probably in the lower to mid 60'sF down at the U853 for example. Keep Saturday in mind if you want to harvest some Quahogs. Don't worry about the weight just go heavy you'll be on the bottom, mostly likely facing into a current so heavy is good.
Saturday 8-2 high tide 12:48PM So tentatively meet time would be 11:30AM at Potter Cove Jamestown near the Newport Bridge off Freebody Drive. There is some parking there but it is limited, so hope for a cloudy, even rainy day that will keep the normal people indoors but not me/us?!? I'll contact yall Thursday for final confirmation. If Faith_C and CT-Rich read this ditto for both of you.
Bring something to dig with a bag to fill and a lift bag. Also a surface float where you can attached the bag to it and tow it in. Last time and had 40lbs that was enough to sink my dive flag float, so keep that in mind. I should have left the lift bag inflated and leashed the bag to the float. A big tire tube works great if you can find one and rig it out.
August already!!!
