I'm a Columbus OH man so buying from Chris was like going to a LDS. Let me first say that Chris is a fantastic person and a very articulate teacher. He took his time outfitting me w/ a 45# wing. At first I thought that might be too much but now it seems like the best size/fit for me. Anyhow we spent about an hour going over the whole BP&W. He not only explained how the webbing goes but actually fitted it and had it pre threaded before I got there. Investments like this can be exciting purchases so sometimes I forget to ask 15 of the 20 questions I had. Thankfully he went through it so thouroughly that he answered all of my questions and then about 50 others I hadn't thought of. He also shared with me some pretty amazing dives. Now I want to cancel Caymen and hit Bermuda.

One quick question about the actual set-up. I've trimmed some webbing off but before I do the rest can someone give me advice?
The crotch strap goes through the waist belt. I think the loose strap without the buckle goes through the crotch strap then into the buckle and locks. I got so excited that's one thing I forgot to remember (Yes he did go over it with me). I'm pretty sure the buckle doesn't get threaded through the crotch strap because in an emergency it could be tough to de-thread. Is that right? If so then the buckle should buckle off to the right-of-center a bit. How far right? All the way to that right sided D-ring on the waist?
Sorry for such a lame question but it's hindering my ability to cut about 1-2 feet of webbing that's completely in the way right now.
Thanks all and this is a great board. It saves me wasting anymore of his time!

No, in fact, the buckle does get threaded through the crotch strap, which means the buckle ends up being slightly right of centre. There should be no D-ring on the right hand side.

should be like this pic

I wouldn't trim the webbing for the first few dives anyway - you might find that in the water you've adjusted the shoulder straps too short or something, and you need to lengthen them. Put up with a loose tag of webbing until you're positive you don't need to readjust the harness, then trim it.

Interesting, my waist belt has two D-rings on it (R&L sides). Thanks for that link, that's pretty much how I have mine set-up, and thanks for the advice about not cutting the webbing. As of now if feels very comfortable, but who knows how she'll handle after a few dives.

You only need a d-ring on the left side of the waist belt, to clip of your spg. If you have a d-ring on your right side how are you going to get your canister light (when you get one) on? the buckle should be attached to the left side.
