I use soft 1 inch or 1.5 inch webbing for the crotch straps. Will not damage suits or skin. I do keep the scooter ring because it is useful to attach my camera lanyard. I also like having the butt D-ring to clip off my sausage.
Believe it or not but my mind tries to stay above that water level, however, I see the alternate interpretation now that you have pointed it out. However, no double entendres were intended . Really!
