I love a cruise, trust me I do, but it sucks for diving. I did dive in my last cruise and had a great time. So great that I wished I could stay for a week or more. I was able to get two dives in at Belize and Cozumel and could've had a third one, but the other three people on the boat through BlueXTSea.Com had other things to do right afterwards so we couldn't squeeze another one in. One thing that sucked, they DID plan a night dive. I ate at PePe's and when I left there, the dock being right across the street, I went to the boat and those three were getting ready for the night dive. I wanted to go sooo bad. :| I made my way to the boat and went to the top deck and watched them leave. Talking about a sick feeling.

So anyways, I'm not sure why I am posting this. I guess just to say cruises are fun, just you don't really have enough time to dive. So plan on diving Cozumel when you are going to stay there for a week or more and spend time with family when you are on cruises. As much as I loved the experience of diving in Cozumel, I'd rather not have and spent time with my family. Now all I can think about is diving there and it will be quite a long time before I get a chance to go there for a week. (At least until LilB is 2 or 3.)

I've been working to much.... I wanna take a break. I guess I'll take the 10th as a little break and hopefully enjoy myself. If I get 4 dives in, I'll be happy.

Michael

Cruises aren't set up for divers. They are set up for shoppers.

The cruise lines own an interest in many of the stores in the cruise boat ports. If you've been on several cruises, you'll notice the same name stores in ports right outside the ship dock in every one of the ports.

I was wondering about that myself. I have been thinking about going on my first cruise this year and I wondered if it would even be worth trying to dive from a cruise ship. My sister-n-law and her husband went on a snorkeling trip and she said they were rushed and only got to stay in the water for about an hour and had to travel aways to get to the site and it was pretty expensive.

Hey Michael,I feel exactly what you are talking about. Our ship sailed out of Coz at 6:00 on Saturday. I watched dive boat after dive boat go down the reef from the marina with plenty of happy looking divers on board. I just wished I had been there too. Ship departure was at the wrong time for a night dive. Maybe next time.
I too could have fit in another boat dive after my 2. But we shopped instead. BAH.
