The wife and I are camping at Jocassee the first weekend of May.

Of course we will be diving the area.

If anyone is interested let us know.:D

hope you plan on diving dry, i was just there this last weekend(april 12th) and water temps were 54 degrees at 20'. yea, we were diving wet as well. it was a lil chilly to say the least

1/2 of us will be dry. The wife uses a 7 mil. She has dove it in temps around that range. Thanks for the warning. I figured it would be a bit chilly.

I'll dive there whenever I can. 54 degrees is typical lake temps year round deeper. Commonly see that at 70-80' when its 100+ at the surface.

That's a terrific campground. By the way, is that your dog's picture for your avatar? If so, it's a carbon copy of my dog.

I've got 20 dives or so on mine, so I'm no expert. I learned from mistakes made on my first few dives in shallow water.

Yes we plan on diving Sunday aswell. I'll just to run for fills Saturday evening.

If your interested just drop me a PM, and I'll send you my contact information.

hmmmm....Lake Jocassee is where the LDS's around here do their check out dives for OW. I've yet to really decide which one I'll go with but do know I'll stay local for the check outs instead of going down south on one of their trips. That being said, I've been trying to decide which wetsuit to purchase for diving and was leaning towards a 5mm but after hearing you guys talk about diving there I'm begining to think a 7mm would be a better choice.

on a side note, do any of you have a preferance concerning the charters available on the lake? I'm kinda between the lake and Charleston and when I start talking the cost of a days diving between the 2 the wife just mumbles "get used to fresh water". Any info you folks have would be appreciated.

We dive freshwater all the time. However I have to admit diving the ocean is a totally different experience. Since your just getting into the sport you will be in awe at anything you see underwater.

I can't give a whole lot of advice on wetsuits. However I'd rather be a little warm than a little cold. My wife dives a 7 mil everywhere and loves it.
