I have periodically given an idle thought to that, but I've found a nice yoga-type maneuver that levers the fins off pretty nicely, which has made me too lazy to drill the holes.

My jets are my fourth set of fins, and finally I am happy. Started with an open heel Tusa Liberator, but they were extremely bouyant. Next were some full foot fins. Loved them, but burned the bottoms of my feet on the beach dives. So I went back to open heel fins, but had leg cramps no matter how much I drank and ate bananas (I heard that cramps is low potassium, or needing hydration). I was giving some jets to try and I bought mine own a few months later. Got them on ebay $35 including shipping.

If you continue to have trouble with cramps, try the nutritional supplement Pycnogenol. Available at most any "health food" store. Recent medical research has demonstrated effectiveness and papers have been published in medical journals. Bananas are a placebo.
Good luck with the jets.

Love my SP Jets.:D I am in the minority by saying I bought the spring straps and hated them. Went back to the rubber straps and all is good.:D

Has anyone ever broken a fin strap on jet fins? Did you use a bolt cutter? I have a 20 year old pair and the original straps are in great shape. I know folks like the idea of the SS spring straps, but the scuba pro jet fin straps are so durable, I'd worry more about the SS rusting than the straps breaking.

By the way, I bought a pair of the SP Twin Jets a couple of years ago. I like them too and I believe I get a bit more top end speed (not that speed is that important), but I still pull out the old jets.

Well, judging from the difficulty I have getting them off, Large Jet foot pockets are perfectly designed for dry suit boots in a women's size 7.

Thanks Lynn for this little bit of info. I'm looking for a set of jets and was wondering:confused: what size to get. I now know I need XL's. :D

Just my 2 cents worth. I recently bought a pair of XS Power fins (jet fin knock offs) from Scuba.com. The power fins seem just a little softer than SP Jets. I am a size 9 1/2 and the large size seems to fit fine with my 5mil booties. I test dove them today on the YO-257 wreck off Waikiki, Oahu. They were awesome! They seemed fast and did great in a slight surface current. I was shooting video and the fins did great doing a frog kick and backing up.

I love jets and I will never give them up!

I haven't tried the SP Jets but I've been using Turtles since switching to a drysuit (needed to accomodate my size 14 rock boots). I've heard the turtles are a little softer than the Jets. They did feel stiffer than my old Atomic splitfins, but I didn't notice any discomfort or difficulty in using them, and frog kicking in them is very easy compared to the splits.

After diving for two and a half years with a pair of Cressi Frog (excellent fins) I would like to change them and buy a pair of Jet fins...

I currently dive with a BP/W, long hose and want to improve my frog kick...

I cannot try these fins before I buy so do you think that I could have problems with them ???

I am a little bit worried about cramps or not being able to "Handle" them...

I know it's a stupid question but I do not like to throw money out of window...

Ciao Erik Il Rosso

My first pair of fins were Cressi Frogs (last summer). I like(d) them a lot until I tried SP JetFins. I dont think you will be sorry. I had absolutely no problems moving on from Frogs since they arent the floppiest fins either. First dive I noticed a difference and, absolutely loved them - except for color :D
I am not prone to cramp, and have not cramped using either the Frogs or Jets - and I did not start in greatest shape. However, this is bit of a 'personal' issue, and should not be taken as a proof of non-crampogenic qualitity of any fin. Spring straps rock!
I would not order JetFins blindly for the aforementioned reasons. The foot pocket design is sucky, and with different height boots you might need different size even when length is OK.
For the OP, I use(d) size S-M Frogs that were loose on me, and need size L Jetfins with the same (high-heeled) wetsuit boots. The same size L fits my size 6 rock boot but I did strech the foot pocket a bit height-wise..
