Missed the post that said you'd called :)

Glad you are ok.

Glad you are ok.

Yeah, definitely glad that you are ok.

And, thank you for your post.

It's a great reminder for me that DAN is there and a fantastic resource when the time comes.

You're probably bent. Call DAN or else.
Good suggestion at the time, probably too late to be helpful a day later, albeit well intended. Minutes count heavily with Dcs.

Sad, very sad- Who trained this diver?
Kinda's goes with my above post. I imagine they're being told, but the Inst don't want to scare them out of diving.

hey, it's hard to really accept that you might be seriously injured until someone tells you that you are. I've been in the EMS for six years now and most people have a tendency to try to cope with injury/sickness. It's natural. If the injury is not blatantly obvious i.e. you can't walk or you can't breathe, it usually takes some convincing to seek medical attention. At least he asked someone and will, hopeflly, heed there advice.
Do you know my doctor, or date his head nurse? :) I'm one of the worst, putting off a DVT for a week so I could take my GF on some dives.

But for dive related worries, DAN is a free call in the US and much of the rest of the world, a wonderful resource, and membership not required for consultation!!

called them... thankfully, i think it may have just been extremely minor or maybe it was all in my head. The numbness is gone and all i have left is random shooting pains around my body which DAN said is not typical of "the bends" (the random part). The dive was saturday and today is monday so any real problems would have already surfaced so i guess i'm alright. I am a fairly young diver (18yro) and very skinny... not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Glad to hear. I'd wondered how old you were, as random pains are more common among us old coots. I've started writing down my pains before diving so I can compare the lists afterwards.

Keep diving, keep DAN's number in your cell phone, and maybe complete your profile and dive info here on SB... :thumb:

Here is a link to a DAN article on "unexpected Decompression Sickness" (aka an undeserved hit). It shows that you can get mild DCS while following all the rules. You should also search this board for threads on undeserved hits for some info on conditions that contribute to DCS. (eg. dehydration, excercise, jacuzzis) DAN recommends a 4 week lay-off from diving after a DCS hit, although it might be less for a mild case like yours.
Don't see a link? Stick it in here if you'd like to...

LMAO! I've been working construction for 22 years now, and that sounds like some darn good advice, DandyDon. Noted for future reference!

TY, but I stole it from DAN or some other source.

I've also heard that Alcohol (even a few beers) or a soak in the hot tub after a day of diving can give DCS a headstart, maybe also induce minor one. It seems that it could be similar to cramping up after a work out or hard run... NOT DCS itself but the way our body lets it hit us. Onset can happen hours later, like the next day.

Yeah, that hottub thing is a killer, there is nothing that would feel better after a cold dive then soaking in the hottub, I did it once(good few hours afterwards) and I was exhausted afterwards, insanely fatiqued... but I slept well. I didn't really think much of it at the time, in hind sight, probably a bad idea....

Only slightly bent, perhaps. There seems to be varying degrees. But a few hours after - maybe not. Just exhausted and relaxed?
