Ok, we took the plunge on the 2 for 1 deal and we are going to the Brac in May. This will be our first trip to Brac since late 2001 and our third trip there since 1995. We stayed at Brac in 2001 and Divi in 1995. With Divi now closed and Brac Reef going on 3 years post Ivan, what should we expect?

Does anybody have any thoughts or suggestions on things that have changed that we should try/avoid/be aware of? Haven't seen many trip reports for Brac post Divi, so has anything changed much at Brac Reef since then?

Thanks in advance for any input...

I, too, am curious of any changes since the Divi's closing; my wife and I also took advantage of the two for one deal, May 12-19...see you on the boat.

I was kinda bummed to read that Craig is on his own now. Maybe next time we go back we will try getting private lodging and dive with him. He was still the best DM/Boat Captain I have has the pleasure to dive with, but I don't have any doubts that the team at Brac Reef is still as high quality as ever. He tried to get the folks on the boat to let him take us to an offshore seamount back in 2001, but there was one guy onboard who had never done any drift diving and because of his reluctance we didn't take the trip. I would love to have had the chance to dive that location, because the impression Craig gave was that diving there was very infrequent, but very good.

Spent a fantastic week at the Brac - end of Feb. Everything was great - food, staff, room, etc. The dive op is excellent and we had absolutely nothing but good times!

My only issue is the total travel time it takes me to get there - but if you are patient, bring a good book and a good attitude it is not too bad.

Enjoy!

Neil

Its easy for us...we are flying direct from Houston to GC, then to Brac. The only part I hate is the 7am departure from Brac going home if you want to get on the jet flight. I guess we could attempt to bring less than 50 lbs each and ride the turboprop, but that would be very difficult unless we rented our dive gear and left the camera gear at home.

This will be only our second trip to Brac, last staying there in July of '06. I agree, couldn't have been more pleased with Reef Divers. My wife doesn't do well on the puddle jumpers...an early flight it is for us also.

After shorting out the last two trips, I should have my strobe back from Ikelite within a few weeks...:51: Good thing about Brac Reef, rentals are avialabe.

We were just at the Brac Reef February 25-March 3 and had a great time. This was our first time there. We were at the Divi last year and had booked it again this year. When it closed, our LDS got us booked into the Brac Reef. I can't address any changes from previous years, but can say it was better than the Divi was. The food was better, on the whole the staff was nicer, and the dive staff was much better. Reef Divers picked up a few people from the Divi staff and some of them have left, leaving behind the better and more congenial folks. Jason is running the dive operation and doing a really good job. We bounced around from boat to boat all week (for a number of reasons) so we saw most of the dive staff in action and liked them all. We really just stayed at the resort all week, went diving, and relaxed. It seemed pretty much perfect to me. If you get to make the run over to Little Cayman, see if you can dive Donna's Delight in Bloody Bay. It was one of my favorite Little Cayman sites, ranking right up there with Mixing Bowl.

Just returned from the Brac 3/14. Room was comfortable with easy access to pool area. Dive staff was first rate and very helpful with my wife who has a bad back. Divemasters worked with us to get a good routine for her to hand up her weight belt and tank/BC before climbing up the ladder. Food was good (very similar to LCBR) and restaurant staff were very cheerful and helpful. Diving was excellent as expected. We did the one day morning dive trip to Little Cayman where we did the "Mixing Bowl" and another site I can't remember right now.

Good to get an update on Cayman Brac. Sue and I are also scheduled for the May 12-19 trip. Hard to beat the 2 for 1 deal. I hear it is a sellout.

We did Little Cayman Beach Resort last fall and it was fantastic. Diving, drivers, staff, food and resort were unbelievably great. Since it was Sue's first serious dive trip, I fear she may have seen the best first, but everything I hear about Brac suggests it is equally good.

See'ya on the island. .... Captmike
