My daughter used to use a big old divers sword on her right hip, which was always fine, but has now managed to liberate my old Focus from me, so can do it the ‘proper’ way.

You might need a longer hose, if you're big and tall. If you want to tuck it.

I use shears.

Or if I'm stuck with easily offended people, I'll replace the shears with a terrifyingly huge knife.

Tighter waist belt.

Periodic downward tug on the loop.

Problem solved.

Mate I'll be exacerbating the problem for the rest of my life for something I will never use because I need 8 feet

everything pulls everything

Did you see this bit

use the long hose stick on the right hip... if it's still too long.. put a small knife infront.. a bit to the left of the crotch strap.

that way you loop the long hose stick on your right hip... then under the knife infront... before going over the neck. if it's still too long... you can install the long hose on the turret... and not the bottom. by installing on the turret it has to bend at a 90 degree angle. before going down.. shortening it by an inch.

moving the knife more to the left of the crotch strap also "shortens" it.

moving the stick back more to the back shortens it.. .forward lengthens it...

While some people never have problems securing their long hose, I have always found it to be an issue for me. Apparently so have some others. If you are one of those people, this may help you. Even though this is not DIR, I am somehow still alive.

For the last few years, I have been using a double sided velcro loop on a triglide to keep my long hose secured. One problem with that approach is that the loop is flexible and moves out of position and sometimes collapses, making it more difficult to use than it should be.

So, I am currently using this item to secure the hose. It is constructed of kydex. It is a holster for your long hose. Since it is rigid, it stays in a consistent position and form. This makes it far easier to stow the excess hose.

I describe the older version of the velcro and triglide loop in the "taming the long hose" series parts 1 and 2 on:

I will be posting a video on the kydex long hose holster in the next couple of days as part 3. If you find this information helpful, please subscribe.

Old thread, but a single gate snap or a double ender and a snorkel keeper make a break away attachment on your right hip d-ring (or put one where you need)...
