Re: 3, No board walks on Island Beach State Park other than those going between the dunes to the beach but up the road a piece is Seaside with boardwalks and bars.
That's the one I was talking about.

So anyone up for a recon. dive there next weekend maybe?

Did I mention I'll be in Florida next weekend? :D

Here is an update from the park after I responded to their wild goose chase:

Scuba Diving is permitted at Island Beach State Park which is located in Seaside Park. Give the office staff there a call at 732-793-0506 as you need to register with the park office. From the information I found, diving in Barnegat Inlet is permitted and subject to NJ Boating Commission Special Regulations.

grunzster:
teamheatwave - how NJ of those morons!!!

hogluvr - can you camp there, are there any kind of facilities?

The reason I was looking at this spot is
1- open fires are allowed
2- trails and oher things to do besides dive
2- tons of bars for the post dive party
3- the boardwalk for anyone with kids

Everyone - I'm up for any reconnaisance dives too!

Sorry about the delay in responding. There is camping @ Sandy Hook, however I've never looked into it.

Hey anyone up for this recon dive next weekend?

Which table should I use?

I was originally thinking Seaside Heights (close enough)
http://www.tidesonline.com/showtable.php?IDNUM=549&stationname=SandyHook&next=1

but then saw Island Beach
http://www.tidesonline.com/showtable.php?IDNUM=561&stationname=SandyHook&next=1

but it's a 3 hour difference between the 2, so I'm thinking it's a different Island Beach (too close for that much of a difference right?)

or Seaside Park, that's right by Seaside Height isn't it?
