Hi all! Wondering if anyone has been to the area outside Cancun in the last few months to snorkel with the Whale Sharks? I'm trying to decide which area is best, Holbox or Isla Mejeres and I welcome any suggestions on operators. I prefer a covered, larger boat. I don't want to be in an area with many boats and people all descending on the same group of sharks. I'm also wondering if the sharks will still be around by mid August?
Thanks for your help.

Holbox equals green waters with low viz, Isla Mujeres equals blue water and better viz. Visit youtube and do a little research.

They are there the entire whale shark season. Amounts depend on the weather. Your experience in the water depends on your operator.

I just left Isla Mujeres. Snorkeled with whale sharks this past Sunday. Water was clear, blue and there were many sharks and at least one big Ray.
