The guy at the testing place was a bit of a pessimist I think because he said "everybody" overfills the steel tanks to 3000 PSI and then "most steel tanks" fail when brought in and he wanted to warn me ahead of time that might be the case.
That is a bs statement. If this was the case then every steel tank in cave country would fail hydro. I personally have some LP tanks from the 80's and they have been filled to 3600 - 3800 psi their whole life.
