Is there a place for dive shop owners to post? Does anyone else think that is a good suggestion?

I didn't realize that my idea would be such a big hit. I actually co-own a technology company aside from my dive shop and would have the capability of setting up a sharepoint server. I just might do this. I will keep you posted!

Jack Cummins:
Anyone could set up a Sharepoint Website for a few dollars a month. Members could easily be contolled with passwords issued by the owner/moderator.

As a manufacturer, the idea that we could communicate and get ideas, feedback, etc. even from stores that didn't carry our brand is a intriguing idea.

Thanks for all of your feedback, we will be added a b2b type forum very, very soon. For those of you with ideas on how to make this forum work (or if you would be interested in helping out) please send me a PM. Clearly the more ideas we get the better this forum can be!

Scubaroo, certainly but again... how do we verrify who really works for/ owns one versus who just pretends?

Surely every genuine Dive Business owner has papers of incorporation, Tax ID # or some other form of government proof of who he says he is(?).

Very true Jack Cummins, however while I know how to verrify US businesses I doubt a company in Vietnam is going to want to fax me their inc papers and I certainly can't validate them? Still, corperate validation is a good idea...

Please remember that you need to balance the hassle an owner will be going through just to get access against the possible benefit....If you make it too hard to become a contributing member, it will be useless.

scubasean,
Another good point, clearly it won't be a 3-second approval as we want to be 99% certain of owner authenticity but it won't be a 3-page written application either.

The "corporate" papers won't work. My business is a proprietorship. I have never incorporated. It is a family owned business. (My wife and I) Any other ideas?

would you guys register to do business with whatever state you are in?

you can probably supply those (as in, a fictitious name registration, like "Bob's Scuba Shop"

not sure if this works
