Dudes. Forgive me. It just all seems so crazy.

To recap.

I want a reg that's going to last me 10+ years. As an instructor. 5-6 dives/day, 5-6 days/wk. Tropical salt water. Chlorine pool water. Shallow depths. Warm waters. Nothing too crazy. Just need something that's going to be reliable. Never be a hassle. Always be there, ready to go to work with me. Something I can service (shouldn't be a problem). Something I can get parts for. Something I'll ALWAYS be able to get parts for (a reg that's already out of production??). From a brand that isn't going to go out of business or be bought out anytime soon (like 50+% of the scuba companies out there right now, over the next 10 yrs). Parts won't be super expensive. Etc.. etc.. etc. You get the drift.

And I'm telling you that money's no object. As long as it comes from a reputable scuba company.

And you're telling me that some 50yr old reg that I have to buy from eBay-ish vendors... because it's no longer made new by anyone. So I'm not going to get my discount. I'm certainly not going to get parts for life. I'm certainly not going to get any kind of guarantees, or warranty's. And the closest thing to this reg is.. currently.. the Aqualung Core, a crappy version of the Legend that we present as our cheap-skate reg at my shop.

And I'm going to be diving for a shop. Working for a shop. Somewhere out there in the tropics. Diving a reg that my shop can't sell to customers. ??? Supporting my shop in that way.

I mean. wtf...

No, you are mistaken, both are readily available, it's the buyers choice. I've been buying and diving Apeks for over 10 years. Any Apeks dealer can get you either. I just bought 3 yoke DS4 two weeks ago.

Why isn't it listed as an option on their website.. or in their catalog.. the one that they give to Apeks dealers?

It is made new.... Amron International Inc. - Everything Under Pressure Just not available to the general public... You just can't seem to get around the fact that it's that old of a design and still made and wanted by the top divers in the world... It's what Basically is on the Kirby Morgan dive helmets with a few little changes like a flow control knob... Some people don't like the weight and size and want a little plastic toy thing... We want a regulator that looks new years later and works as a hammer if needed..

Ask yourself, Why would divers that can buy and dive anything in the world... Buy a Conshelf XIV Surpreme ... And you will be hard pressed to find top divers say a bad word about them... And parts for life is a advertising gimmick... As is the service every year.. But in the end... You should buy what you want.. Buddhasummer just bought new ones.. I think every top diver on this site has a conshelf or had one...

Jim...

I'm have not seen the catalogue you are referring to so have no idea but I assure you 100% both are readily available from any dealer. If you tell me where you are located I can point you in the right direction if you decide you want to go with Apeks.

You are running around like a chicken with its head cut off, no offense intended, been there done that. Slow down, go through this thread and read it slowly and carefully all of your questions have been answered at least once but often numerous times. I know it's a lot to absorb when you're starting out and can lead to information overload. All the information you've asked for as well as some sage advice from some very experienced divers is contained within. One thing at a time. Ask the question you want to ask, once you've read the answer, have both digested it and absorbed it move onto your next question.

Truth is just about, if not all, regs currently on the market will more than adequately meet your needs. You just need to settle on features etc you want and then move in that direction. Feel free to PM me if it would help.

I gotta sleep on all this, lol. And get back to work in the morning. Thank you very much for.. idk. This whole thread. Nothing but good people trying to share knowledge. (I used to live in a Buddhist Monastery btw lol)

Good idea. Having lived in a Buddhist monastery then I'm sure you are aware it doesn't matter what you buy, it in itself will not bring you any happiness.

The Core is not a "crappy" version of a legend, I'd bet my life you couldn't tell them apart at recreational depths blind folded. Some LDS talk a lot of s#%t. Price has little and often no correlation to performance. "Buy the most expensive reg you can, after all it's your life on the line" blah blah blah...
