is scubapro a good brand?

im new to diving im going to get certified in march. and my uncle was going to give me his scubapro bcd. i wanted to know if its a piece of crap because i never heard of the brand before or its a good brand. thank you.

Scubapro is one of the high end brand, they are also one of the oldest brands out there with to cressi, aqualung, and mares

SP products are just fine. Enjoy. "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." Say thank you and if after a few dives if you dont like it sell it or trade it in. I had an uncle give me a horse once and would have preferred the ScubaPro BCD.

I'm surprised they don't do that everywhere if they do it for some parts of the world. Is that just a USA or North America thing? Anyone know?

ScubaPro is an excellent brand. ScubaPro was our main line at one shop I worked at, so I was very familiar with all their products. Unfortunately, their business practices have caused them to lose some U.S. dealers over the years, so you don't see their line so much, and they have heavily resisted online sales. Their product quality speaks for itself, just look at your Divemaster's BCD, that brown, faded thing with thousands of dives on it that looks older than the sport of diving, but still functions perfectly. The ScubaPro power inflater is so good I put it on my Zeagle BCD. The Fino mask is my favorite, UWATEC Aladin computers are bulletproof, and the MK25 S600 regulator will out perform anything I've tried.

IMO Scubapro along with Aqua Lung is the Bentley and Rolce Royce of diving gear. Old brands with long standing tradition and yada yada. I find their products over priced but if its a gift, who cares man go for it! Which BC is it? Knight Hawk?

They make world class products with safety and comfort in mind. I own MK25/S600 reg, everflex 5mm wetsuite, seawing nova fins and scout mask. I will not change my equipment for an thing else.

I have dove pretty much every major brand of regulator (Aqualung, Mares, Oceanic, Zeagle), and have come to settle with Scubapro. Don't get me wrong you can't go wrong with any of the top names. Most of my gear is slowly switching to Scubapro.
