im new to diving im going to get certified in march. and my uncle was going to give me his scubapro bcd. i wanted to know if its a piece of crap because i never heard of the brand before or its a good brand. thank you.

need some more info of course, but Scubapro makes great gear IMO their warranty is the best for original buyer. you should take it to a authorized dealer and have it checked out.

Do you think your uncle would give you a piece of crap?

Then again, only you know your uncle.:)

Scuba Pro has been around for decades. I have a '85' Scuba Pro HP 72 steel tank, on its 5th hydro. In fact, about 90% of my current equipment is Scuba Pro.

Define 'good'. All the Scubapro gear I have owned or do own now has been good quality. Their warranty and service requirements, as well as their customer service are another thing....

I have scubapro Regs and am very happy, I also obtained 2 scubapro Knighthawk BC's through a purchase which i sold rather quick. They make quality equipment. I probably would have kept the BC except I had already had one which is my Halcyon Eclipse

I would say the SP is one of the better scuba product brands.......

Their regulators are typically thought of as world class........

Their wetsuits consistently finish in the top rated group in Scuba Diver magazine evaluations........

I see SP BC's around the world as rental gear........

They make the Lighting Jet fin, black skirt frameless mask and simple bottom timer, which I might guess is the most popular fin, mask and depth gauge/timer on SB.........

Of course they also make the AirII, split fins, purge masks.......................:D

I also think that every diver on SB ownes (or owned) at least one SP item........;)

Hope this helps.......M

SP is a well respected and dedicated manufacturer. They have been around for ages and they continue to improve and add to their line. They have excellent warranty coverage and support.

SP makes good stuff...I have an SP regulator circa 1992 that I bought used, just had it's yearly check up and is still preforming like new!!

i have quite a few scubapro products myself, do you know what kind of BC it is?

if everything works correctly and checks out, you can't go wrong with a free BC :D
