I just got my first regulator setup from divers supply and noticed the red altimeter hand on the spg is around 220ft even tho I live at sea level. Is this normal on a new spg? I have not connected to a tank yet so maybe that could influence it. Is this broken or normal? Thanks for the help!

Could not see the picture.
Altimeter? Did you mean the depth gauge? Altimeter is to measure above sea level not under.
The "red hand" is to show the max depth of the last dive.
Two possibilities: (1) The depth gauge was factory tested to 220ft and the technician forgot to turn it back. (2) It was like this when it left the factory.
Always set the red hand to near zero in the beginning of the dive if you want to know the max depth of that dive.

yes I mean the depth gauge, but I thought the red hand was for above sea level alt diving, since there is also a white arm for depth. I didn't know the red arm was adjustable haha

That red-arm shows the maximum depth since it was last reset. So if you put it at zero, and do a dive, you'll see the maximum depth during your last dive.

man im a idiot, do I just turn the little black center thing to reset it?

It's alright, I didn't know what it was for several dives. I almost never reset them, given I have a dive-computer.

I guess we all have to start somewhere, thanks for the help!

Don't feel bad. I bet a lot of people not only don't know about it, they never even noticed it was there. With computers dominating diving now, and with only a tiny remnant of the population using dive tables (a remnant I have not seen in more than 20 years, BTW), that feature is obsolete for all but that tiny remnant.
