I have one on my aluminum plate and am getting a SS plate and want to switch over the pack. It is attached with the plastic bolt kit and I don't know if they are snap ons or screw ins.

thx

They are held in place with screws, I believe the proper term for them are wellnuts.

The problem that you may encounter is that the bolt pattern for the MC pack does not match up to other plates. You may end up having to drill new holes in the backplate if you try to mount it on a non Halcyon plate.

FWIW, I have seen the MC pack attached using just the 4 corner holes rather than all 6 and it seems to work just fine. You may also want to consider upgrading to stainless steel wellnuts. You can probably find them at a good hardware store, or order them from Halcyon or Extreme Exposure. The plastic ones have a tendency to crack with age and use.

thanks - the new SS plate is also Halcyon so that wont be a problem. I guess I will stick with the plastic until I can round up a set of steel.

Given the time of year, I am not in a hurry as there is little diving to be done for the next few months... :(

Halcyon supplied Stainless Steel, Round Base, T-Style, Weld Nuts and Slotted, Truss Head, Machine Screws.

I ordered replacements/spares from McMasterCarr that look identical.

I think they are Part Numbers 90860A110 and 91785A535.

Thanks Mike - sole in packs of 100 only

sounds like a group buy scenario to me...

and told them the plastic fasteners were not up to the quality of the BP, they sent me a free set of SS wellnuts.

My Eclipse arrived with the SS wellnuts, so it looks like they took your advice. My MC storage pack fits a little loose at all of the grommets even with the wellnuts "bottomed" out. I called Halcyon and they recommended installing a few nylon washers to tighten it up. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm a ziptie fan, as well. I just don't see any point messin' around with the bolts.
I guess if it comes with the SS bolts, then that's one thing. But if you don't have 'em, I wouldn't suggest that you buy any when the zips work great. Just be sure to put the cut end of the zip on the back side of the plate so they don't rub the wing.

I'll second this post 100%, if the SS bolts are included, then use them, if not, ziptie it!!!

I got at least a dozen zipties of diferent sizes in my save a dive kit!!!
