I can see the utility of a simple post, that does not allow any further responses, like a birth or death announcement in a newspaper, that alerts the general membership of a thread being disappeared: "The "How Many Sexual Positions Do You Use?" Thread was disappeared for inappropriate posts on 0X/0Y/2007".

While it wouldn't make everyone happy, it would serve at least to identify that the thread was pulled and for which specific TOS violation.

Andy,

I understand, exactly, your point.

I guess it all goes back to the fact that the staff is burdened with the onus of having to make the interpretation of whether or not an act violates the TOS in deed or in spirit.

I suppose with regard to a response, a more specific answer such as, "XXXX was banned due to a violation of the TOS with respect to (put your choice here)", would be sufficient.

But I think that should be as far as it goes. I think anything beyond that would infringe upon the privacy issue.

perhaps more staff is needed? How many active members are there? At most times during the day, there are at least 200+ members online. There are more than 16,000 members, with a total of 32 staff members, and not all of the senior moderators are that active. So (for those who are not good with numbers) that makes approximately 1 mod for every 500 or so members.

Now this I have to second. Hallelujah. From my selfish POV:D :blinking: I would like one assigned to me please. Pretty please? ;) I only say this because getting assistance sometimes is reminiscent of herding cats. That said, thank you for ALL of the help I do get. I sincerely appreciate it.

I guarantee you all that after you've racked up 20 years on internet forums that getting bent out of shape about post moderation on scubaboard will seem pointless.

:hijack:

Pardon me, :nervous2: but may I take this golden opportunity to ask that ffestpirate and Dawn, #'s 29 & 30, be removed from the last list of names which is titled; Morning of Sunday, May 6th – Spiegal Grove & Reef? You will find that info in the first post of this thread:http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=174100

Thanking you in advance,

I love ya, but couldn't you just pick a Mod who is online, and PM them? Who's online appears at the bottom of the main forum page.

Honestly, quite often they log out or I don't hear from them for eons - they too get busy and don't have time to work on my lil projects 24/7. Sometimes I go through up to four mods before I can get something done. Like I said, herding cats. I found that my lil hijacks are more effective in getting stuff done quickly. :crafty: Saves me a heck of a lot of time as well. Get on one of these threads that every mod is watching and voila!

This sounds reasonable to me. Site Support may be the best place as a central location since it is not QUITE as fast moving as other forums. We'll definitely talk about this one & get back to you.

As to reporting to y'all that a member has been banned, I'm sorry. I just do not see where it is anyone's business but the person who received the ban & the staff. Not everyone on SB who receives a ban wants it publicized, no matter how vaguely, to the general membership. If you are so concerned with the particulars of a ban, I would hazard a guess that you have a relationship with them that transcends SB. Feel free to reach out to them for answers. Otherwise, wait until their ban is lifted. That's JMHO.

I surely do hope so, Lamont. ;)

A better solution is the one that I just "implemented" :D I moved your post to it's own thread in site support. Sorry, no real time to do what you need right now but I'm sure another mod will pick up on it- the forum's pretty darned active right now...
