When my slip-streams were too tight on the top of my boots, I cut small arcs of material out of the top of the fin pocket until the fin fit properly.

You're awfully brave. How many dives do you reckon you've done since you cut them? Have they become more vulnerable to tears and such? A friend of mine had trouble with the comfort factor of his XLs so he wound up getting a pair of Dive Rites to replace them. But if reshaping the foot pocket worked for you, it might be worth trying...

After about 30 dives, I haven't noticed any evidence of tears. It's pretty solid rubber.

After I switched to dive dry, I have also changed my fins. I now own a pair of Slipstream XL but feel the pocket is too wide and narrow in height.

So I did keep searching around for solution and review.

Finally, I find this link, even it's posted in 2008, but the idea and modification seems valid and you may judge if you will make a change before you give it up.

I indeed enjoy the light weight of this fins so I want to give it a few more try before I switch to another fins.

Cheers.

I'm curious to know what fins you were using before you switched to the Slipstreams. (I had a pair of Mares before I bought Jets and the foot pockets are from two different worlds...)

Wa, Annasea, u still awake? I thought you are in Asia timezone.... =)

I was using XS Scuba Power Fin. That's an inexpensive (or I should say cheap) Jetfin. My shoe size is Europe 43 (US 9), I use size L when I dive in wetsuit. If I remember correctly, the price of XS Scuba Power fin is around US$60-70.

I actually got the Slipstream at a good price (around US$80-90) before I got my XS Scuba fin. Yet, that was the only available size at that time, XL. I couldn't use it at all, so I put that aside until I got my drysuit. And I also used a Converse Chuck Taylor size 10. Hope this help.

Cheers.

This may sound counter-intuitive to this discussion but I just remembered something. I usually wear two pair of SmartWool sweatsocks. One day last summer I figured I'd just use one pair of ski socks. They were too thin and I could feel the top of the Slips' foot pocket and was uncomfortable.

Maybe the Slips aren't too tight but rather, you actually need just a little more padding in them. If your feet go into them just a touch too far they will hit the top of your foot too high. Not sure if that makes sense but try adding another sock and see how it feels.

Thanks Boat Sju for your suggestion of removing the insole and socks. Cheers!
