Do they usually specify in the users manual what type of MosChip they have? Is this a standard chip used by most IrDA manufacturers to perform infrared communications? I'm not sure if my dongle has that chip and if it just requires a software upgrade....all the better!
Also, do you have a direct link to where I can purchase the Longshine dongle?
Usually this information can be found either in the manuall or the manufactures website. I'm based in Germany, so my source probably won't be what you are looking for. The Syba dongle mentioned by divinglog has a MosChip, so no issues with that one.

Just a quick update. It seems that a windows 7 recent windows update added some IrDA drivers and when I plug it in now it's automatically recognized. Happy diving!
