I'll be on the same mix as you, Wendy!

I don't know anything about the area in terms of breakfast, so any suggestions are most welcome. I'm guessing we meet around 7 or so. How does that sound?

re: nitrox

I guess I should have added "unless what they give me winds up to be something different than what I ordered!

The last time down there, our mix ran from 32.1 to 35.4 on a dfferent dive op.

Peter,

Thanks for that report. I was reading it and thought for sure that you worked for the dive op! They should give you some credit or something for playing traffic cop, babysitter, and rodeo clown!

I think we'll check the flow before going down. I don't know about everyone's dive experience, so we should probably have a 2nd plan in place.

Can this wreck be done as a drift dive so that you don't have to hang on a line?

I'll be on Nitrox. The dive plan sounds great. Kjunheart, thanks as usual for being the new unofficial dive coordinator!

As for breakfast...you guys are making me hungry! I'm not much of a morning person, plus it's a 20 minute or so drive down from West Palm for me but....there's a little place @ 2 miles north of Splashdown right on Federal Hwy. called The Friendly Greek that serves incredible breakfasts. Despite their name, most of the menu is standard all American, wonderfully fattening things--bacon, eggs, and the best (huge) pancakes ever. And cheap.
I'll try to provide more info if whoever is doing breakfast is interested.

Thanks for the suggestion, Krista! Sound good to you Jack? I also have the 20 minute drive but my entire life revolves around food...o.k. now food & diving. So count me in! Now I just need to wake Krista up, drag her along with me with promises of hot coffee and lots of bacon!!!! :slick:

I am also diving Nitrox. I will probably go with 32%.

Thanks for your heads up in your dive report, Peter. Definitely valuable info in our dive planning!

As far as current/weather conditions, I have found that even though a dive is "scheduled" to do certain sites, the captains in this area are really good about having all that info available & making changes where appropriate. We can ask when we check in & go from there.

Sound great to me (especially since I don't have anything else to offer)!

Is 7 am the time?

You can't really drift it all that well.

Well, I suppose it depends on the current. I have been on her in zero current. No need for a ball, just over the side and down to the wreck.

With that kind of current, I think that a ball is necessary. Especially for inexperienced divers.

You could, I suppose, drop about 100 ft. south and let the current blow you to the wreck. I could pull it off, I think. Not something for the faint of heart.

So, if there is a strong current, use a mooring ball. Otherwise, just dive on down.

Take it easy guys. I'd love to come along, but I'll be in the Bahamas with Abernathy.

Peter

edit: The mooring ball would be way easy with a scooter. Hmm....

Well, if you do decide to buy one I'd be happy to test it out for ya!

Anyway, Matt and I will probably be on air. As a broke (but soon to be graduated) college student, I have yet to find the time or the cash for the nitrox cert.

Would it be a good idea for someone with more experience on the wreck to lead the dive? The last time we went, we didn't get to see much, because we started at the stern and the swim against the current was too strong to reach the bow. There were some nice rooms up there, though, but I'd like to make it into the hold this time.

Still not 100% sure on breakfast, though, because it's a 3 hr drive from Orlando, and I'm working Friday night. More later...

meeting at 7am ? breakfast ?

ahh.. you mean wake up at 3:30 am and have pepsi and m&m's in a car while driving :)

that's about my plan.. of course Dr. Jay will be probably sleeping like a baby ....

but hey, fatty breakfast before a dive... where do i sign in for that ? :-)

I could do a nitrox dive but since i have 4 non-nitrox cleaned tanks lying around it is way cheaper to stay on air and not have to rent the tanks...

there is plenty of nooks and crannies to look into on that wreck.. plenty of fish too... just the swim against the current to see the bow is basically a lost cause... (or rather Dr. Jay run out of air last time i tried to do that with him)

gotta go have fun diving on 26th :-)
