Interesting approach to automatic Buoyancy at DEMA

Well, the yellow hose on the right should be probably an octopus, or, even better, a complete independent alternate regulator.
So the Air-2 is just for redundancy, and in this type of usage it is not deprecated here.
In the video that opens this thread, in my humble opinion, the interviewer make a conceptual mistake (timestamp 7:30).
He says that the Avelo System works just like a BCD, which is wrong.
A BCD works because is a recipient of flexible walls. When we add air to it we increase the volume of the system (diver + gear) without changing the weight, so we receive more buoyancy force (Archimedes' principle).
With the Avelo System the diver does not change the volume, but changes the weight by adding water to the tank.
The volumen of the bladder in the BCD changes with depth (ambient pressure), but the weight of the water inside the tank does not. That´s why a BCD offers an unstable buoyancy and the Avelo System does not.
In all this, Avelo despise the compression of the wetsuit, which could be so in warm water, but I guess this is not to be despised with a 2 piece 7 mm wetsuit. Anyway, the diver with the Avelo System can adjust this.

The yellow hose is the only one I see. Not sure I can make assumptions about configurations that are not visible in the photo, perhaps that is what you are doing?

I will drive down to Key Largo and take the Recreational Avelo Diver specialty when it starts at Horizon Divers. I believe I read that the RAD specialty course (online, in person, and 2 dives) will cost $450, correct me if you find different. I paid nearly that to do my try rebreather course/dive with Divetech in Grand Cayman in 2007. I did not go on to dive rebreathers but really enjoyed the experience. Not sure if I would/could go on to dive Avelo, but looking forward to trying it.

I wish they had that option in Maui when I was there. Instead they had some lunatic $4-5k course option. I would like to try them out, but at something approaching reasonable.
Edit: it looks like since we have returned they do have a much cheaper option being made available, which is great to see. The $4k+ course for something like this is just a bit much.
