I’m leading a large trip to Grand Cayman in early April. This post isn’t to debate the wisdom or ethics of this plan. The trip has been rescheduled 4 times already and the plan is to go, despite the Omicron surge and the ever-changing entry requirements. I have a specific question about one entry requirement - the Travel/Medical insurance. Does anyone know of official, government-approved options that meet the stipulations of the requirement? If those don’t exist, for people who are traveling/have traveled to Cayman recently - what insurer/plan did you choose?

Thanks for any info. The current wording of the requirement is below:

All visitors should ensure they have suitable travel and medical insurance. You should ensure that COVID-19 is not an exclusion to the existing policies.

Insurance is required to ensure that you are adequately covered in the event you develop symptoms during your stay in the Cayman Islands and need to seek treatment at a local healthcare facility. You should ensure that your coverage covers all COVID-19 related and associated medical costs and quarantine.

Visitors are fully responsible for the cost of quarantine in the event they test positive during their stay.

Just FYI. Travel Cayman will issue a travel certificate without insurance if you state that you will be financially responsible for any additional expenses. The opt out is done when applying for the certification. Now if you want to jump down that rabbit hole will be your choice. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for pointing that out - it did seem like that was the case when I previewed the Travel Cayman application. I'll have to leave it up to the guests to assume that responsibility themselves, but I at least want some option to recommend to them. I have the Guardian level DAN insurance and my own comprehensive health insurance, but I'm fairly certain covid-related quarantine expenses would not be covered by either.

Thank you. Thinking about jumping on a Blackbeard's trip (and the Coz Invasion) and for $10/day that is a no-brainer.
I wish they covered Mexico. Everywhere else in the Caribbean…except Mex
