I heard that info about Bob from a couple of your club members who were managing the booth at the Sportsman's show in Providence a few weeks ago.
John, if you are interested, you should stop by one our meetings or events. It is a great way to gain experience and there are always people going diving.
I usually go to the events but not alot of the meetings,I grew up in Attleboro and lived in Warwick for 10 years. It was convenient to get to them. I now live in Jamestown so it is a bit of a hike.

I've actually been considering it. I have problems at time finding someone to dive with. My wife finds it physically a little difficult as we get older and my other partner (daughter) went and got herself married. Her husband dives but you know how newlyweds are!!

That really would have been a coincidence! I was there on Saturday when I spoke with the club members

If you are looking for a buddy just PM anytime. My buddy is down at the local bike shop on Landry and you can always stop by and see him too (he's the short one). We do quite a few shore dives on the South Shore. This year I am Scallop bound but I have to get the advanced out of the way first.

You should stop in for a meeting. I am not much of a Club joiner, but this is a great group of people that will make you feel very welcome. My wife and I have been members for 13 years. We have made alot of friendships along the way. Many of the members have their own boats (I am one of them) and can get you to spots that some people don't even know about along with most of the popular spots in the area.
We have people that join with all ranges of experience, some right out of class and others with a ton of experience.

I must say that the group of folks that post here seem like a great group! I can't wait to get my cert and get out there!

I may take you up on your offer. I've got to get the boat tuned up and wait for the water to get a little warmer (I'm old). I have not done a shore dive in a couple of years with the exception of 1 fall dive at Ft Wetherill last October.

When are you doing your AOW? I did mine a couple of years ago and I thought it was worth the effort.

Sean

When do you guys meet?

For the last 2 years I've done all my diving outside the power plant in Plymouth or we launch out of the Sandwich Marina and dive off of STB.

I have to set it up in the next month. Haven't had the time but work is slowing this time of year. Let me know anytime. I think this year we need to have a NELD beach/dive party out at STB or whatever. A lot of folk here know each other and I think it could be a blast.

What's good over by the PP? I generally turn left at the Gurnet and go up to High Pines Ledge, the couple of times we've gone down to the PP we got scunked. We anchored north of the PP in about 35 ft, just at about the point where you can see the surface floats for the keep out area (i.e. pretty close) Do you ever go down to Maryann Rocks? Any good there?

JohnL and I did STB on Monday. I've only been there at night before, so my perspective is skewed, but it seemed to me that the clay reef was much smaller than I remembered, lots of area with sand atop the clay. Water temp was fine, the only place I was cold was my neck where I didn't have a tucked in hood and one hand where I had a thinner borrowed glove to replace my one that was in hiding.
