If your friend has the not enough interest issue (that can be a factor) post that here or PM me. I have two guys interested in getting certified and may be able to scare up a few more. If not enough folks sign up we can also round up a few of us for advanced certs, which the instructors will do with the basic course.

You kidding sounds like you caught them on a good day. Usually they have live sacrifices and they kick you in the groin on the way out. Well maybe that is a bit of a stretch but I live 20 minutes away and will travel an hour not to shop there. I tried to have a regulator serviced that was purchased there and they looked at it dropped it on the counter and said we don't service this brand and they don't make the parts anymore. It is an Oceanic Omega II and it was only a few years old. They must have changed loyalty which is fine but the attitude I can do without.
well i was tryin to give them the benifit of the doubt
haha silly me

He is away on a business trip right now. I introduced him to the SB the afternoon he was packing to go. I hope to have him posting here soon. I will let you know if he runs into any road blocks, thanks.

This is just the kind of Info I was looking for. The shop attitude and the instructor will, in my opinion more so the instructor, make or break the the student before the first pool. I appreciate all the info.

Thanks for the info all. I'm the person CTMAX is posting about.

I think I will check out the place in Rehoboth first.

I just signed my daughter up for swim classes at the Y in N. Attleboro and I meant to ask about the classes they have there.

I've only dived twice before, down in the Carribbean on some cruises. The first time was in the Bahamas with a few tips on the boat ride out to the dive, the second was a bit more with some pool training and then an ocean dive in Aruba.

I called the aqua director at the Y bit she hasn't called me back yet. Oh course that is par for the course there. A lot of great people work at that Y but once they get into management so to speak they usually can't seem to even return a phone call. I am hoping to get enough folks to sign up so we can run a basic and advanced class together. The instructors are contracted so we may be able to throw in a Nitrox cert for a few pennies more. Once you have your cert don't be afraid to PM or post if you are looking to car pool to a dive. I try to get out every weekend in the warmer months. I have a one buddy that I usually go with and a bunch of folks from the board I have gone with in the past. Stick with the board you'll meet a ton of great people on the board.

i have been in there a few times, and get the impression your bothering them.
one time i went in there looking for something specific, they didnt have and i got a little attitude because i didnt want what i wasnt looking for....
i duuno mabye i just cought them on bad ays. we all have them

I went to 2 other LDS's, one in EP and the other in Smithfield, both were not very helpful. At the Scuba Center they spent almost an hour with me going over each piece of gear and exlaining all the plusses and minuses. I thought they were very helpful.

You must have hit on one of the two decent people that work there. EP agreed not the best service but the prices are usually the best around. Smithfield I am honestly shocked. I guess it is true we can all have off days South Attleboro just seems to have more than most.

Your right about EP, he never got out from behind the counter. He gave me a price for a BC and Reg, but he never showed me what pieces he was pricing. Smithfield was more helpful, but by far I got the best customer service in Attleboro.

3 outa 4 dive shops in new englans have crappy attitudes.
everyone has bad days, but some dont have good days
ive been in the scuba center on a handfull of occasions. and never ever got anything close to any kinda service... and one they where just down right rude
