I just don't log dives
I am considering getting some Eneloop Pro's which are 2550 mAh as opposed to the regular Eneloops which are 2000 mAh.

Discussion on Amazon talks about these being slightly thicker than regular Envelops which are slightly thicker than "normal" AA batteries.

Anyone know if the size difference will be an issue in the Type 2's battery compartment ?

Thanks

OP-----do you use Eneloop's currently??...Order them & see what you get........I'm working on my 2nd set(#9 thru 16)from Amazon(6 years now) & I'd bet you can return them if things don't work out--ie if they don't fit..........Personally, I'd have no reason to order the 'larger ones' cuz the standard ones work for 2++ dives on my 2 strobes(S&S YS110a's)--ie 400 ?or more shots a charge........

EDIT....:..my 1st set(of 8) are still going strong--use them as much as the 2nd set --just wanted to 'buy a little insurance' before heading to Rangiroa last year---if you know what I mean......

I use Eneloop Pro's in my Inon Z240 and D2000 strobes. They fit easily, and I can do 4 dives a day on one set of batteries, about 200 photos.

There you go.....I was thinking from that pic on Amazon the OP linked, they looked to be about the same as the 2000's......but didn't want to stick my foot in my mouth..:).....

I have Eneloop Pros (current model) for my S-2000, which I believe has the same battery compartment (look identical, anyway). No problems whatsoever.

Thank you all.

Now that I've dug out the strobes, I see that regular AA's fit easily so what the Amazon poster said "a hair bigger" shouldn't be a problem.

I should check to see if my old PowerEx MH-C801D charger would have an issue with higher mAh batteries, but you never know.

Let us know what you find out..in 4 or 5 years I'll be ready for my 3rd set...

After doing some more research I'm getting a new set of the Powerex MH-8AA270-BH batteries that have served me well for many years. The old ones I have now are very slow to recycle the strobes after a full dump.

And they are claimed to be 2700 mAh - better then eneloop.

A very knowledgeable guy at Maha says the charger (PowerEx MH-C801D) will handle any capacity battery as long as its NiMH.

Don't be fooled by mAh ratings. Bigger is not better for strobes (for flashlights is certainly is). Low internal discharge batteries will give you more strobe flashes than higher capacity batteries because the higher capacity ones get hot during capacitor charging and a bunch of energy is lost. I wrote an article years ago, time to update it.
