You can dive motorized boats at Lobos, but they have to be launched from within the park.
 
Hmm, I've been thinking about an inflatable kayak as well but the idea of an inflatable boat is interesting. I'd primarily be using this in the Monterey area as well. However, it was my understanding that motorized boats are not allowed at Point Lobos, which would be one of my primary use cases. Am I incorrect here?
Where you enter and exit the water at Point Lobos is known as the "boat ramp". It is an easy launch site. Kayaks work well if you have buddies with kayaks. Otherwise a boat can take your non kayak or boat owning buddies. Plus a light weight inflatable can be launched most anywere. Then again so can a kayak.
