Anybody out there that can recommend a good wrist depth guage? I'm starting to freedive and would like a wrist mounted depth gauge to help track my progress. Dacor makes a capillary gauge for about $15. Does this model work okay? Can anyone recommend any others that work well? I've checked eBay but it seems like many sellers don't know whether their guages actually work or not. I wouldn't mind getting a used one if I could be assured that it worked. Anybody want to get rid of one or two of them? Let me know. Thanks.

While some people have had success with capilarry guages I have not. Ebay has older style mechanical guages and often they work just fine. I have mechanical guages from the 50s that work just fine and a helium ScubaPro 0-500 foot guage that is dead on accurate. As far as I know no such guages are being made anymore. That is a shame because an analog needle guage is so much easier to read at a glance than the digi thingys that you have to decipher. Good luck. N

It may sound a bit crazy, but:

depending on how precise you need the depth recorded/how deep you intend to dive, you may want to consider a Swatch Scuba wrist watch instead.
It'll measure/record depth upto 40 meters, is pressure proof upto 200m and records the dive profile for later playback plus you'd have an additional watch for leisure activities. It'll probably be priced (depending where you live) at around USD 70 - 80.

Just an idea.

I bought two vintage pressure gauges for SCUBA off Ebay. A US Divers one, and a Scubapro ($12.00) pne. The US DIvers ($9.99) flooded the first time in the water). The ScubaPro has been to 100ft with me and worked like a charm.

At those prices, I was willing to take some risk.

hoosier:
Timex DM watch.

or casio / depth gauge

Both would work well and with some checking, can be had fairly low cost.

are these still around?
where'd you find these?
