I want to thank everyone who responded to my post where I asked for advice on diving in Provo vs. the Dominican Republic. Collectively, your comments strongly indicate Provo is the clear choice over the DR. I certainly place more value on the comments of people who've been there than what I read in dive magazines. I'm looking forward to my Provo experience come Sept. Thanks again!!
 
i too was trying to decide whether to go to DR for a week that would includediving... I'm really a novice diver so anyplace might work out even "tame" dives in the southern coastal area of DR near Bayhibe, but I'm thinking of going to St. John's instead, since all the reports sounded so-so...

St. John is good but Provo is really excellent, close to Little Cayman diving except there are more pelagics on Provo (west caicos) to be seen and there are more colorful sponges on the walls at LC.
