Looks like Ambergris Cay is the current landing zone after a close visit to Roatan, subject to change.

There's still two models, including the GFS, which takes it over honduras and busts it up. Can't make the Ambergris Cay call quite so fast yet (although personally i'd bet in that neighborhood at least if I had to). Folks there should definitely be paying attention.

We are (paying attention!).

It's not looking at bad this morning. Good luck...!

Kind of looking like some interaction with honduras is looking more likely, and a track closer to Belize City, but it may still curveball up to Ambergris Cay. Rapid intensification is looking a little less likely now -- although if it does curve to Amerbergris Cay, then it would spending more time over water, so it would probably be a stronger storm. If it misses to the south, it'll probably be a weaker storm.

We are watching it closely as well here in the city. The number of cancellations we've had this season due to possible storm threat is no joke. The weather is nice and sunny right now with moderate seas but these storms hurt us even if they don't hit. Be safe everyone.

Cancellations ahead of time are a bit silly, though, since you get a better deal when the airline cancels it for you.

This is also going to be a Sunday/Monday timeframe event for Belize. By Wednesday it will have all blown over.

Its also unlikely to become severe enough to warrant the tourists who are already there packing up and leaving, even if it hits you directly.

Its just going to be a day of bad weather.

We've got a windstorm coming in for Sunday up here which is probably going to be about as bad.

Will be heading to Belize October 30 and diving with Hugh Parkey Nov4 for 8 days. Hoping this all blows over w/o to much damage

News reports are always questionable, but seem to say that it landed south of Belize City. Electricity is reported out across the country. Flooding is generally the bigger risk in such storms. The country knows how to prepare for and bounce back from hurricanes tho. Wishing for the best recovery....

Just caught the latest update, and it looks like it was not too bad nut withthe power gird out I imagine we won't be hearing from some of the local folks for a day or so. Hopefully for them everyone got through it safe and the damage was minimal.

Judy and I will not the going down there until late in December so hopefully the reefs will have bounced back a bit. The last we we travelled south on the heels of a storm was two years ago when we went to Curacao, the there was so much sand blown up on the reefs we really didn't get a great look at them, but such is life.

Again hope everyone down there is safe, got by with minimal damage and can recover quickly. Keep us posted once things settle down please.

Cheers!

Rick
