who is Dan Don?

Good grief. dlndavid came out of the chat room and found a serious thread to undermine.

Izu:
Don,

This expensive fruity looking plastic tag would clutter up my otherwise beautifully streamlined BP and the mirror postively screams bite me in the language of Barracuda in addition to posing both a :dork2: and snag hazard. Having said this, I just ordered a stealth grey version
Yeah, I wouldn't want a shiney mirror in the water, either. I'm pretty sure it's covered with a removable coating. The grey sounds nice.

Don, no thread of yours is serious, only in your mind. :D

Hemlon:
Same here which is why I have DAN insurance every year. The cost/benefit ratio makes sense to me.

lol.............you're so thrifty.............GEAUX TIGERS...........

I have the Dan Master plan and have been a member since 1997. World wide, most chambers demand payment in full before treatments are started. It's a personal opinion to be a Dan member or not, but the benefits are very obvious. I don't wear a tag, but I always tell my buddy and boat crew that I'm a Dan member and the information is in my dry box. I also encourage all my students to join Dan, it's cheap insurance. :palmtree: Bob

You're right. I am thrifty! Which is yet another reason why DAN insurance is part of my annual dive expense!

The poll says that if we answer no we should explain what our excuse is.. so here goes :D

If someone who doesn't know enough to call DAN without seeing that tag (i.e. not a DM from the dive boat) finds an unresponsive me floating on the water somewhere, I don't think DAN will be of much assistance.

I also suspect they will call 911 regardless of whether I have a DAN tag.

That DAN tag could get tangled in a line while diving, and could become the reason why I need DAN or a coroner.

I wear mine and also have the DAN gear tags. The ID tag with reflector on my BC. The gear tag zip tied to the primary, another on my mesh bag, one on my travel duffel and one on one of my fins.

Joined DAN immediately after certification and got the tags shortly thereafter. Yes,they are expensive, but help support and publicize a good service.

The entanglement thing is a non-issue: put it in a drysuit pocket.

Or bcd pocket, if so equipped.
