So... besides the standard DAN membership... what level of insurance did everyone get (standard, master, preferred)?

Thalassamania:
I really did not want to be associated with Peter Bennet in that way.
Peter Bennett's self-dealing and deception were enough to make a Wall Street executive proud. As far as I know, DAN's insurance arm is a for-profit enterprise, which is why Bennett tried to surreptitiously sell it to a Delaware corporation he 51% owned. I have DAN's platinum membership, or whatever it's called, because I travel a lot and a lot of operators require it. But I would just as soon send a donation (and $20 dog tags sound like a donation to me) to Goldman Sachs as I would to DAN. I hope things have changed at Dan since my information, in which case I'll buy the tags.

As DAN's most ardent promoter, Dandy, you should be getting some commission dollars for your efforts.

Yeah the Bennett story was bad, but he's been out for a couple of years now, hasn't he? He was not easy to oust, but for DAN to survive as the wonderful organization it is - they had to. I don't expect perfection but it's admirable - and very helpful at times when no one else was.

The DAN insurance is underwritten by a legal insurance company of course, but I don't know the details. Even if I got my dive insurance elsewhere, I'd still pay the $29 a year for the membership - to support the organization I want to depend on, and the magazine is worth nearly that much.

The DAN tags are sold by another vendor - don't know how much DAN may get on each sale if anything, but they're a good idea.

I wouldn't mine that being true but I doubt that it is. :no

:crying: i know i have about 10 of those tags in the house but do you think i can find a single one right now!!

Don, you did remind me to renew my membership, which expired today, so thanks for that.

Gooooood - I have mine on auto renewal. ;)

Not something I'd want to leave to my memory or mail processing.

My memership/Ins expired yesterday...(by the time we read this) so I opted for the usual...for another year! I "Just" dont' feel comfortable diving without DAN....This is the greatest program.
I love it!

Don,

This expensive fruity looking plastic tag would clutter up my otherwise beautifully streamlined BP and the mirror postively screams bite me in the language of Barracuda in addition to posing both a :dork2: and snag hazard. Having said this, I just ordered a stealth grey version
