Well, jep, given the position to which the Scubaboard population has elected me, what else was I going to say?

marusso:Very, very long story. My hands will cramp trying to fill you in from typing the story. Believe it or not, for this hour, they are back together again although I have never actually met her.
ppo2_diver:Ignore the naysayers. Most of them are Internet DIR wannabe's that don't have the stones to take the class. Probably to afraid to take the beating their level of diving deserves.
TSandM:... Buoyancy and trim are the heart of the class. ... I also found it helpful to do some basic skills stuff ... to see if I could keep my depth and trim and composure throughout.
Henryville:... The class is about awareness and muscle/physical memory ...
Henryville:***? That wasn't her on the boat last Thursday, was it?
On to other matters, glad to hear you're taking the class, Mike. Most people get a lot out of it, and you're level-headed enough not to get caught in the hype so don't sweat it.
My advice is, take it in doubles if you possibly can, keep an open mind, stow your ego, and go slow. There is nothing you have to do fast underwater other than get a reg into someone's mouth who doesn't have one. The class is about awareness and muscle/physical memory, so just like learning to ride a bike you should go in with the expectation of falling off quite a few times before it (the style of diving) becomes second nature and you don't have to think about it any more.
On the other hand, you will likely never think about diving the same way again. Who is your instructor going to be?
jepuskar:Split...this is not the DIR Forum.
jepuskar:Marusso,
My post was not negative towards you or your decision to go GUE/DIR. I was actually commenting on post #2 "Another one joins the collective -- hooray!"
Any time a diver chooses to further educate themselves that is hardly a negative. I have heard alot of good things about GUE. Please take it all in stride and keep your head on straight. Tell SeaJay jepuskar says hi!!
good luck with your class
Jason
marusso:. SeaJay dumped Kym, and is pursuing Robyn again. Sounds a bit like highschool I suppose. lol goofballs.
