"Doesn't mean it's a good thing."

haha? sure, have you ever dove with someone trained by gue?

Yes. we are the borg.

But he was one of the newly converted, so I'll go easy on him.

Then there's the guy (name withheld) that was still a cluster.....after several years of DIR. Must say I had the pleasure of diving with Maddiver, and he is truly amazing.

Good and bad divers come out of all agencies, it's not just the instructor, but the student plays a large part in the outcome. You don't have to be Hollywood to do it right.

marusso:
haha, you guys are crazy! lol

I just spoke to SeaJay, he says hi!

I need people to sign up for the class otherwise it will be canceled! :-)

It seems to me that Florida would be a great place to take it. Why don't you try the conch divers section?

What happened to RavenC, SeaJay's old girlfriend?

I totally agree and understand with what you are saying. The question I have to ask, did he actually pass fundies, because just because someone wants to do it dir, and he or she says they are, but no c-card, makes that person a misrepresentation of the method.

Unless the raising the bar on diving is hogwash, which according to the gue website is not the case. With other agencies, who teach great material, do not really fail a diver if they are not exactly dialed in. Of course it depends on the instructor and the student, however, I believe gue takes the instructor part out and leaves it solely for the student to succeed.

Just my thoughts. I have been PADI OW, SSI AOW, SSI Stress + Rescue, and TDI Nitrox. In those courses, the different instructors definately played a role in the quality of the class whether good or bad.

Very, very long story. My hands will cramp trying to fill you in from typing the story. Believe it or not, for this hour, they are back together again although I have never actually met her.

Re SeaJay; whatever you do, just don't use the word "frisky" and you'll be alright.

Marusso,

My post was not negative towards you or your decision to go GUE/DIR. I was actually commenting on post #2 "Another one joins the collective -- hooray!"

Any time a diver chooses to further educate themselves that is hardly a negative. I have heard alot of good things about GUE. Please take it all in stride and keep your head on straight. Tell SeaJay jepuskar says hi!!

good luck with your class

Jason

Cool, Thanks. The diver formally know as SeaJay will be practicing with me.
Hows his world record attempt going?

I thought her Fundies report was excellent. I'm not sure if I read it here or not, but I very much enjoyed it.
